Cultural Programming
Excursions to Washington, DC and New York City

The nation’s capital is the political hub of American society, but is also a bustling cosmopolitan city known for premier museums, iconic monuments, unique cuisine, national sports teams, and various historic neighborhoods. George Mason University’s location forty minutes from downtown allows students the opportunity to experience the city as much as they like and truly feel like a local. Cultural excursions will draw from all elements of Washington, DC and will be organized through the Office of Global Strategy.

Housing

Students live in university residence halls on campus. Standard rooms are double occupancy with shared bathroom and kitchen facilities on each floor.

On campus, students have access to libraries, computer labs, three (3) athletic facilities, and a number of different dining options. A health clinic is located on campus that students can have access to if needed.

All room and board fees are included in the program fee. Students seeking non-standard accommodations are subject to additional fees and must make their request as soon as possible, as there is no guarantee requests can be fulfilled.

Professional Workshops

George Mason University’s success in academic and corporate fields stems from an awareness of future opportunities and setting strategies to attain them. To help students master the practical skills needed to succeed in the job market, all GMU Summer Institute programs include supplemental workshops on academic writing and personal branding so our alumni are ready for.

  • Academic Writing & Personal Branding – students will participate in supplemental workshops on academic writing, resume-writing, and interview skills so they develop the key skills to work or study in the U.S.
  • Industry Visits – GLI participants will visit some of the most dynamic companies and organizations in the Washington, DC area. Recent visits include:
